Floor Sanding
We sand all types of wooden floors including old floors which have just been uncovered by carpet, including pine floor boards, parquet, wooden block and very old oak floor boards etc.

Floors which have been laid and have now shown signs of wear after a few years including solid oak and engineered flooring.

New floors which have been laid but are unfinished like oak, walnut, marple etc.

Repairs
  • Pine floor boards. If there is damage the board can be repaired of a reclaimed board can be replaced.
  • Concrete removed. Usually concrete arlf can be removed and reclaimed boards replaced by staggering the boards so not to leave a straight line.
  • In old block and parquet floors a common occurrence is where there are a few lose, especially where there have been gripped rods around the outside and when the gripper rod is removed the block is pulled loose. These can be re-struck using the same adhesive as used years ago.
  • Flood damage or rot or any other kind of damage to a section of flooring can be removed and replaced.
Gap Filling
Floor boards gaps in between floor boards can be filled using three different methods. Firstly if the gaps are not too wide then clean dust collected in the bag of one of our machines can be mixed with a resin and poured into the gaps. The second is by cutting a floor board into strips and gluing into the gap or by using a mastic available in brown or clear and squeezed into the gap.

Finishes
Stains - We use solvent stains to coloured waxes that come in a full range of colours from light to dark. All these are available on sample boards for you to view or if you have a picture of a floor then we can see if we can match it.

Lacquers - These are the most hard wearing finishes that come in domestic or commercial grade matt, satin or gloss. These form a protective film laying over the top of the floor giving the greatest protection to the floor from wear and spills.

Oils & Waxes - These often give the best results enhancing the grain and giving a natural appearance. Waxes come in matt and satin. Oils give a very matt appearance and a nice feel to the floor. They are less susceptive to scratches and areas can be repaired more easily than lacquers, but do require a little bit more maintenance.

Machinery
Machines being used by Sandskill are Lager machines. These are the very best machines and are leaders in floor sanding technology. We have solid belt sanders to machines with discs on all turning in different directions to achieve the best possible results with 98% dust extraction.

Maintenance
Once on of Sandskills floors are done a full maintenance schedule will be given and advice on how to keep your floor looking good year after year and what produces to use.

If you do not want the hassle or have not got time to look after your floors we offer a maintenance service where lacquered finishes after a few years can have a light sand and reseal. This is a very good idea in commercial premises to keep the top of with lacquer.

In waxes and oils if the floor starts to look tired they can be cleaned with a buffing machine to remove the dirt and recoated.
